HSC science semester 1 and 3 results declared

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) on Saturday declared the results of the exams of Semester I of Class 11, and Semester III of Class 12 (both of the science stream). The board does not declare students pass or fail in the exams held for the first three semesters of Class 11 and 12.
Of the total 2.65 lakh students who appeared in the examinations for the two semesters for which the results were declared on Saturday, 2,639 students obtained 90% marks or more.Of these 2,639 students, 1,478 were of Semester I while another 1,161 were of Semester III.
Officials said that as the board releases consolidated results only at the end of Semester IV, it does not declare a student pass or fail in the earlier three semesters. Hence, the board had not given the percentage of students who had passed the two exams.
According to board officials, a total of 1.38 lakh students had appeared in the Semester I examination. Of these, 71,739 had appeared in the examination for A group (mathematics, physics and chemistry), while another 66,181 had appeared in the exam for B group (biology, physics and chemistry).
In Semester III exam, 72,449 students had appeared from A group while 54,276 had appeared from B group. (The total number of students who took the Semester III exam was 1.26 lakh.) Officials further said that our of the total of 1.38 lakh students who appeared in the Semester I exam, 7,586 students had failed to get even 33 marks.
A total of 37 students were caught cheating in the examinations. In Semester I, 23 students were caught cheating. Of these, 12 were declared failed in one subject, while four students were failed in all subjects as punishment. The remaining seven were cleared of cheating charges.
Also, in Semester III, there were 14 cases of cheating. Of these, 8 were declared failed in one subject, while four students were declared failed in all subjects. The remaining two were cleared of cheating charges.
