Municipal Administration and Waqf Minister Qamarul Islam has charged the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Board CM Ibrahim of violating norms of the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) in the selection of the chairman and members of different boards and corporations in the State.

Speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of a function to mark the inauguration of the district Krishi Utsav at Kotnur farm of the Agriculture Department in the outskirts of the Kalaburagi city on Sunday, Mr. Islam did not mince words in accusing his one-time close friend Mr. Ibrahim of interfering in the selection process of different boards and corporations from Kalaburagi district.

Referring to the recommendation made by Mr. Ibrahim of nominating Ilyas Bhagban as the Chairman of the Gulbarga Development Authority (GDA), Mr. Islam said that this was against the norms and guidelines fixed by the party high command, according to which the selection should be first done by the party block president. Later the District Congress Committee, in consultation with the respective MLAs and MPs, would finalise the names and send it to the KPCC which in turn would send the suggested names to the Chief Minister for final orders.

He said Mr. Bhagban, whose name has been suggested by Mr. Ibrahim, was not even a member of the party. Mr. Islam said that the selection of Asgar Chulbul for the post of Chairman of the GDA was unanimous and his selection was made following all the norms stipulated by the party high command.
