RAMNAGAR (Mainpuri): Already 76 and frail, Ramnath Yadav, the father of Shiv Kumar Yadav, on Friday came out of his house with folded hands to request fellow villagers in Mainpuri's Ramnagar and the posse of media persons camping around his half-constructed residence to leave him and his 70-year-old wife Gangashree alone.
“I haven’t eaten for four days now,” he said.
“The stress is killing us. We will not be able to take it any more. I am weak and tired. I just don’t want to talk. I beg you to leave me alone.”
Ramnath, who till a couple of days back would ask people visiting his house in Ramnagar with queries related to Shiv Kumar to sit down, sometimes even offering them water, hardly opens his door now. The old couple don't come out either, sitting quietly inside until darkness drives his tormentors home.
Still known as ‘masterji’, Ramnath, who taught for most of his life at a local primary school, claimed he is these days struggling with a new identity—that of the “father of a rapist and goonda”. He added, “It is difficult. We have already seen the deaths of two of our sons. Now the third one will force us to kill ourselves.”

'Rapist' Uber driver Shiv Kumar Yadav's father (L) and mother (R).
Among the four sons of Ramnath and Gangashree, the eldest one died of illness while the second committed suicide. It is his widow that Shiv, now in Tihar for the alleged rape of a female executive a week ago in his radio cab in Delhi, married. Ramnath's other son, Lavkush, is mentally challenged and lives with his parents.
Villagers said that Gangashree, who has been crying ever since news of her son's alleged misdeeds broke out, has fainted a couple of times and needs immediate medical attention.
