VYAPAM scam: Four RIMS students on MP STF radar
Four students of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (RIMS&R), Saifai, are on the radar of Madhya Pradesh Special Task Force in connection with VYAPAM medical entrance exam scam of 2013.
Reports said a MP STF team had recently visited RIMS to question the four students in connection with the scam. “All the four students of the 2014 batch were not present at the institute when the STF team visited the place.
However, we provided them all the necessary details, besides documents being used by the four MBBS students in admission procedure," claimed a senior administrative officer of RIMS&R, Saifai.
VYAPAM is Vyavsayik Pareeksha Mandal, a self-financing autonomous body of the MP government that holds professional exams in the state.
Vyapam scam was a massive admission and recruitment scandal involving politicians, senior officials and businessmen.
Nearly 1,300 students have been expelled from MP medical colleges for using unfair means to get admission.
The number of students expelled suggests that at least an equal number of impostors are behind them, informed sources while talking to TOI.
Circle Officer, Saifai (Etawah), Arun Kumar Dikshit, too confirmed the visit of STF team from Madhya Pradesh. He said that a few students of the RIMS & R, are on MP STF radar.
Recently, nine students of KGMU, Lucknow were detained for questioning over their alleged involvement in the VYAPAM scam.
According to STF sources, the modus operandi used by the scamsters was to provide fake candidate to take the exam instead of the actual candidate with whom they had a deal for getting him admitted in the medical colleges of Madhya Pradesh.
