Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam will conduct the ‘Bhavani Deeksha’, an annual ceremony, from Wednesday.

Temple priests would give deeksha to devotees from Wednesday and the conferment would be on till November 17. The ‘ardha mandala deeksha’ conferment would be given from December 3 to 7. Generally, Bhavani deeksha begins on Kartika Pournami or Utthana Ekadasi in Kaartika maasam in Telugu calendar. This year the Bhavani deekshas will begin on ‘Karthika suddha ekadasi’ (Wednesday) and conclude on Margasira bahula dasami (December 27), said priests.

Rituals

Rituals such as ‘Vighneswara Puja,’ ‘Kalasa Sthapana’ and ‘Punyahavachanam’ would be performed in the temple indicating the beginning of the 41-day Bhavani deeksha in the early hours of Wednesday. Temple priests would perform ‘poornahuti’ on Margasira dasami, December 27. Agni prathisthapana, Sata chandi homam and other rituals would be conducted as part of deeksha relinquishment. The Bhavanis would relinquish their deeksha from December 23 to 27 i.e. up to Margasira Dasami.
