SHIMLA: With no major break in solving the theft of Lord Raghunatha’s idol from Kullu, Himachal Pradesh police is focusing on a gang of thieves. After detaining three members of the gang, police are now questioning them to get leads in the Kullu temple heist.
Himachal Pradesh ADGP (law and order) Sanjay Kundu confirmed that these suspects were presently being questioned by police.
“CCTV footage of Kullu town for December 8 and 9 night has been examined thoroughly, which revealed suspicious movement of three youths after the occurrence of the incident. The youths appeared on three CCTV cameras - camera number 16 at Sarvari Bazaar, camera number 4 and 8 at Kullu bus stand,” he added. The ADGP said that all three youths are aged around 25 years.
He said that to enter the temple from the rooftop, criminals had used four single rope strands. He said all ropes joined together to form one big strong rope by making knots at regular intervals. After committing the crime, the criminals threw the rope outside the temple precincts in the field near the toilets, he added.
