Health officials raid non-licensed medical stores
MOHALI: Health officials on Thursday along with a police team raided two chemist shops and issued challans to the owners of the shops for unauthorized practice.
Both the shops were running on somebody else's license. Medical officer SMO Daler Singh with other officers made the move to cancel the license of the original owners and also a DDR was lodged against them for breaching the Indian Medical Council Act, said medical officer.
The medical stores were identified as Khan Medical Store in Dairi village and Aniket Medical Store in Bakarpur village.

Police inspector Satwant Singh said the shops were run by Naib Singh and Balkar Singh and they were selling medicines without any license of their own.
The original pharmacists, Hardeep Singh from Mohali and Jyoti of Dera Bassi had given them their licenses to the unlicensed accused on monthly rent for Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively.
"This is a serious issue and breach of government laws and guidelines. Licenses are issued to individuals to run their own store not to give their license to somebody on rent. As per law, only qualified license holder at the store must sit at the store and run it. The two stores have been closed now," said a health official, adding the authorities have been regularly conducting raids at various medical clinics and other establishments to ensure fair practices.
"We'll continue with the drive in the coming days," he added.
