KATRA, Dec 11: Up in arms against bad condition of Katra-Reasi road near Ballni, where a major accident had taken place yesterday, inhabitants of the adjoining villages held a strong protest demonstration, here today.
Shouting slogans against the authorities, the protesting villagers from Serbar and Panthal, also blocked the road and disrupted vehicular movement for some time. The villagers alleged that despite repeated pleas to the concerned authorities, the road was not being repaired because of which several precious human lives have been lost in the accidents there.
Later SDM Katra Anil Chandel reached the spot and assured that repair work would be started on the road within a week’s time.
Pertinent to mention that five persons had died and 18 others got injured when a minibus rolled down in a deep gorge at Ballni yesterday.
