Women score on regional cinema front at fest

Maharashtra Tourism development Corporation (MTDC) held a festival of films that focused on the works of women in different fields of film-making.

Maharashtra Tourism development Corporation (MTDC) held a festival of films that focused on the works of women in different fields of film-making. Mumbai Women’s International Film Festival (MWIFF) that showcased 10 Marathi films of a total of 457 films from 62 countries was held from December 6 to 13 at Mumbai’s Liberty Cinema at Marine Lines, Cinepolis, Viviana mall, Thane and Ravindra Natya Mandir in Prabhadevi. MWIFF was started two years ago with an initiative to give women film-makers an international platform.
Some of the Marathi films screened were Time Pass and Mitraa, produced by Meghna Jadhav and directed by National Award winning director Ravi Jadhav; V.K.Prakash-directed Sachin Khedekar-Sonali Kulkarni-starrer Shutter has screenplay by Manisha Korde and editing by Bhakti Mayaloo, Leena Deore-produced Vitti Dandu is presented by Ajay Devgn Films and stars Dilip Prabha-valkar; Kapus Kondyachi Ghoshta is by National Award winning director Mrunalini Bhosale; while Ajinkya Deo-starrer Raakhan-daar is directed by Dr. Mrunalinni Patil and Swami Public Ltd is produced by Poonam Shende and directed by Gajendra Ahire.
The festival is to be attended by writers Devika Bhagat and Manisha Korde, editor Deepa Bhatia and director Nupur Asthana.
