Southern superstar Rajinikanth is the phenomenon that rules a million hearts. As the icon turns 64, his fans line up for at theatres for the first time ever in the superstar's 40 year long career. While Rajinikanth's 'Lingaa' directed by KS Ravikumar hit the screens today, wishes have been pouring in from all quarters for the star actor. It is the first time ever that a Rajinikanth movie is releasing on his birthday.

The film is said to be released in 3000 screens across the world. Produced by Rockline Venkatesh, the film has Rajinikanth in a dual role with Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty playing the female leads. While AR Rahman has composed the music for the film, the Rathnavelu has cranked the camera for 'Lingaa'.
Rajinikanth made his debut through the 1975 Tamil film Apoorva Raagangal, directed by K Balachander, and went on to essay quite a few antagonistic characters in Tamil films. He gradually rose to become an established film actor and after a few years, Rajinikanth was acclaimed as the superstar of Tamil cinema and continues to hold a matinee idol status in India.
Rajini worked in over 150 films across various film industries is one of the most influential actors in the film industry. His mannerisms and stylised dialogue delivery contributed to his mass popularity and appeal.
