City to host 'Jana Nudi' literary meet from December 13
MANGALURU: ‘Jana Nudi’, two-day literary meet, will be held under the aegis of Abhimatha Mangaluru at Shanthi Kirana, Nanthoor here from December 13.
Litterateurs and activists from various parts of the state will take part in Jana Nudi, which is a platform to oppose the commercialization of literature, said Athradi Amritha Shetty, one of the coordinators of the meet.

“Attempts are being made by people with vested interests to convert literary meets into commercial ventures. To oppose such moves, Abhimatha Mangaluru has organised Jana Nudi for the second year consecutively. Jana Nudi will not only be an alternative literary meet, but will also be a platform to debate on role of literature in building society,” she said.
The second edition of Jana Nudi will be held with the funds accumulated by litterateurs and social activists, Amritha said adding that nearly 300 litterateurs and activists are expected to take part in the meet.
Nidumamidi Mahasamsthana Mutt seer Sri Veerabhadra Chennamalla Mahaswami will inaugurate the meet while litterateur Mallika Ghanti will preside on December 13. Writers K Neela, Sara Aboobakker, Mavalli Shankar will be the guests. A seminar on ‘literature in confrontation with corporate values’ will be presided over by Banjagere Jayaprakash. Nataraj Boodal and Meti Mallikarjuna will speak on the topic. Rajappa Dalavayi will preside over a seminar on ‘the new forms of categorised caste system; dalit, women sensitivity’, which will be presented by CG Lakshmipathi, Devu Pathar and Gowri, Amritha said.

On December 14, the meet will commence with a poets meet and an interaction programme will be held on ‘challenges in social networking sites’. Prabha N Belavangala, Nagaraj Hethoor and Arun Jolada Kodligi will deliver talk. Vishnu Naika Ankola will preside over a seminar on ‘tribulations of coastal Karnataka’. Resource persons Jayaprakash Shetty, Sudipto Mondal and Muneer Katipalla will speak. Chief minister Siddaramaiah’s media advisor Dinesh Amin Mattu will preside over a seminar on ‘contemporary challenges and need for unity’.
Speakers L Hanumanthaiah and Vasu Malali will deliver talk. Litteratuers RK Hudugi and Meenakshi Bali will deliver valedictory address while G Ramakrishna will preside, she added.
