SURAT: A leopard fell in an open well on Wednesday near Vyara of Tapi district. It was rescued by the forest department officials with the help of a ladder. The leopard climbed the ladder and escaped into the forest. The rescue operation continued for over four hours.
Forest officials were alerted by the villagers of Chindhiya near Vyara that a leopard was spotted in a 40 feet deep well. The leopard was desperately trying to come out.
The well was dry due to which the leopard survived.
Sources said that the leopard might have fallen in the well while chasing some animal in dark. Deputy conservator of forest Anil Vasava was not available for comments.
Sources said the animal sustained some injuries in its leg and was tired.
