ALLAHABAD: Thousands of aspirants of Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exams-2013, CGL Exams (Pre)-2014 and Combined High Secondary Level (CHSL) Exam-2014, conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC), took to to street on Wednesday demanding cancellation these exams. They also demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities in these examinations. The demonstration was held under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya SSC Sangharsh Morcha (ABSSCSM). High Court Bar Association and some local political leaders are supporting the agitation.
The administration deployed police and PAC personnel in a large number to ward of any untoward incident.
Thousands of agitated aspirants gheraoed the central regional office of the commission and staged a sit-in. They wanted to meet the district magistrate to hand over the memorandum, addressed to the Prime Minister. As the official was out of station, the agitated aspirants kept on sitting at the sit-in site.
The students alleged that a few coaching institutes in connivance with SSC officials played an important role in getting the students selected for their desired posts. "Some private coaching institutes are acting as a recruitment mafia as they indulged in getting students recruited. The investigations conducted by the police following several complaints of cheating, and selection of maximum number of aspirants in CGL exams from Delhi proved irregularities in the examination, but the present chairman is keeping mum over the whole issue. We want a probe from an independent agency like CBI", said an agitator.
Sandeep Pathak, one of the members of the core committee of ABSSCSM, said, "We are demanding cancellation of CGL prelims and main exams-2013 along with CGL (prelims)-2014 and the Combined High Secondary Level Exam-2014 as these exams are shadowed with large scale irregularities".
Later, thousands of aspirants arrived at the Police Lines and offered their voluntary arrest. As the district magistrate Bhavnath Singh was out of the city, ADM (City), came to meet the agitated aspirants and took the memorandum.
