The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) will organise TANA Chaitanaya Sravanthi in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh this year, according to TANA president Mohan Nannapaneni.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr. Mohan said the celebrations had already begun with a health camp at Chiluvuru village in Guntur district. Dr. Hema Prasad, TANA member, is coordinating the event in which people will be screened for cancer, cardiac diseases, cataract and cleft lip.
TANA will install a bronze statue of late film maker Bapu at Narsapuram, his native place. The statue will be unveiled on December 15. Art competitions for children a Bapu-Ramana film festival will be part of the celebrations.
A TANA folk arts festival will be organised at Kasturi Devi Gardens at Nellore. Noted scholar Dr. Ravva Srihari will be presented the Gidugu Ramamurthi award during the event. Folk artistes from across the State will perform during the festival.
Mr. Mohan said musical concert by singers Prudhvi Chandra, Sravana Bhargavi and Revanth would be part of the celebrations at A Convention Centre in Vijayawada on December 21. TANA publications will be on sale at a book festival in the city in January, he added.
TANA has donated Rs. 45 lakh to Little Musicians Academy of Ramachari to build a music school in Hyderabad. Health camp, eye camp and youth festival will be organised at Pindiprolu and Matrupeta of Khammam district of Telangana, he said.
TANA secretary Satish Vemana, members Rajani Akurti, Jogeswararao Peddiboyina, Dr. Naren Kolli and Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Muthavarapu Muralikrishna spoke.
