Every time a team plays a home match in the Ranji Trophy, the norm is for the players to stay at their respective homes. But Virender Sehwag felt that the distance from his home in Chhatarpur to the Roshanara Club Ground in Shakti Nagar is too far to drive down every day and is lodged in a luxury hotel in West Delhi.

Travelling 60kms every day can be a pain for anybody and Sehwag isn't getting any younger. But the question is what if the same VIP treatment were to be given to some other cricketer who isn't a former India player like Sehwag?

In fact, a few years ago when Delhi were playing at the Jamia Sports Ground - the last time a few Delhi players found the travelling too hectic - they were asked to lodge in a guest house!

Speaking to MAIL TODAY, a DDCA official said Sehwag had requested for a hotel accommodation and the association had to oblige. "He made it clear it was way too hectic to drive back home at the end of a day's play and then travel back to the ground by 8am. So we had no option but to book him at a hotel in West Delhi. He wanted one even closer to the ground, but this one suited us best," he said.
