KANPUR: Principal secretary industrial development Sanjiv Saran on Tuesday said that 90% of the required land has already been acquired for the East West Dedicated Freight corridor in the state.
"Private companies would be given an opportunity to develop industrial areas on both the sides of this corridor. The World Bank considers the Kanpur-Aurriya stretch on this corridor to be full of possibilities.
A budget of Rs 8,500 crore has been earmarked for the construction of ring road and upgradation of power system. We will move the file of this project for funding from the World Bank. The final report regarding this project will be ready this month after which we will proceed further," said Saran while talking to reporters at the site where Chief Minister will be coming on Thursday for laying the foundation stone of the High-Tech City.
Talking about the development of "plastic city" in Aurriya, Saran said that industrialists will be given incentives for setting up industrial units in the plastic city. For this a cabinet note has been sent, he added. "Industrialists interested in setting up plastic units in Aurriya will be provided relief in entry tax and stamp duty. Also single window clearence will be set up for VAT reimbursement. The low cost electricity is the demand raised by the industralists," he added.
"The work for the plastic city is almost over,” he informed. Talking about development of dry port, Saran said that the Container Corporation of India has demanded 200 acres of land for developing dry port between Kanpur and Aurriya. This will ease transportation of goods. But the hunt for land is going on at present," he added.
He also said that three greenfield stations will be developed in Kanpur. Around each station, five-km land will be acquired so that godowns could be developed there. In the entire state, 19 such greenfield stations will be developed. Year 2018 has been earmarked for the completion of this job.
He said that on both sides of the Yamuna Expressway between Delhi and Agra, exclusive Japanese and Korean cities will be developed for which 1000 acres of land (for each city) is to be acquired. Primarily, industrialists from the two countries will be given land to set up industries.
Companies such as Samsung and LG have shown interest in the exclusive cities. All in all, invitation to global companies from Japan and Korea will promote 'Make In India' concept, said Saran while replying to the queries.
