Hot Young Creatives 2014: McCann Worldgroup's Vasanth Joshua is a die-hard Rajinikanth fan

    Synopsis

McCann Worldgroup's Vasanth Joshua loves watching movies, and on an average he watches about 5-6 films a week.

    Vasanth Joshua, 29

Creative Director - Art, McCann Worldgroup

Vasanth Joshua has spent 10 years in the ad business and yet is at a loss of words when we ask him to describe himself. Not the most sharp question, admittedly, but it gets the job done. So he must resort to listing the things he loves in the hope that we can create some sort of mental sketch of him.

Our mental brushes and canvas are ready, so shall we channel our inner Picasso? Here goes nothing: Joshua is a foodie and his moods are often predetermined by the last meal he devoured. He loves watching movies, and on an average he watches about 5-6 films a week.

In a Utopian world, he would be travelling all the time. (Who wouldn't, Josh, who wouldn't?) Travel makes him feel like a nobody, and he loves that feeling. He also loves travelling because he gets to meet interesting people with amazing stories, travel allows him to indulge in food that isn't familiar to him. (Beating cobra heart anyone?)

When he isn't travelling, literally, movies and sleep help feed his stationary vagabond soul because naps and flicks help clear his mind. He can get chatty sometimes. He's a die-hard Rajnikanth fan and he looks up to Bruce Lee.

"Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend."

And that's his favourite quote, no points for guessing by whom. Well, let's just say you are what you eat, love and Lee.

Best thing about my job: You can sit in a bar sipping on chilled beer with your boss, and say you're actually at work.

Worst thing about my job: You can't escape from your boss even while you're sitting in a bar!

If I were an internet quiz: "What dog breed would you be?" (I've had 9 dogs so far... all of them with distinct personalities. )

If I become the CEO of an agency I'll: Make travel compulsory and no working weekends.

My first ad memory: 'Gems Bond' on the back of Tinkle comics.
