Co-star: Meryl Streep’s still a ‘down-to-earth Jersey girl’

Meryl Streep has played Margaret Thatcher, an alternate version of Anna Wintour, and Julia Child, but her “Into the Woods” co-star Tammy Blanchard tells us that underneath it all, the perennial Oscar nominee’s just a Jersey girl at heart.

“We all went out and Meryl said to me, ‘Where are you from?’” Bayonne-bred Blanchard told us at the movie’s Ziegfeld premiere on Monday.

Streep then told her, “ ‘I knew I loved you for some reason, I’m from Newark!’ She’s a down-to-earth Jersey girl and you can still see it.” (Streep was raised in Bernardsville.)

Also at the premiere, parents kept asking “Into the Woods” star James Corden — the UK comic who will take over CBS’ “The Late Late Show” — if their kids could pose for photos with him.

When we noted to the actor how much kids seem to love him, Corden cracked, “Not in a weird way, I want to make that very clear. I’m not about to build a theme park in my garden.”

Meanwhile, 15-year-old “Into the Woods” actor Daniel Huttlestone revealed a major crush on his older co-star Emily Blunt.

“She’s really good-looking,” he told us, adding that during filming he didn’t let the age difference stop him from flirting. “I kept winking at her and making her laugh.”

Billy Magnussen, who plays a prince in the film, was spotted asking the DJ at an Edison Ballroom after-party to turn up the music.
