Skoda hit 1m, used imports rise, Jag not SUV

SKODA will sell more than one million cars in a year for the first time in its history.

The Czech Republic brand says sales have already outstripped the total for all of last year and came to 955,300 vehicles. In November sales were up 10pc.

THE number of used-car imports so far this year is nearly 9pc up on all of last year, latest Motorcheck.ie figures reveal. The current figure is 52,263 so far in 2014 compared with 48,044 for the full 12 months of 2013.

THE first Sports Utility Vehicle from Jaguar should not be called an SUV.

That is because it has such a sporting bias, according to Jaguar Land Rover boss Ralf Speth.

He told Autocar the idea is for it to be far more road orientated. They have already begun testing a prototype. When produced in 2016 it is expected to be heavily based on the C-X17 concept shown last year.

Mr Speth said the capability of the 'SUV' will much different from a Land Rover.
