JAMMU: Security forces in joint operation on Tuesday busted a militant hideout and recovered a haul of arms and ammunition including UBGL grenades, hand grenades and AK-47 ammunition in a remote area of mountainous Doda district of Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir.
PRO (Defence) Jammu, Lt Col Manish Mehta said, "Based on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of a militant hideout in the general forest belt of Bharat region of Doda District, a joint operation by Dharmund-based Delta Force and Jammu and Kashmir Police was launched today."
"The troops during the joint operation busted a militant hideout and recovered a huge haul of arms and ammunition from Bharat Ridge in Doda district," the official spokesman here said.

"During searches the security personnel recovered 324 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, nine sniper rounds, five hand grenades, four RPG grenades, 15 UBGL (Under Barrel Grenade Launcher) grenades, one .303 rifle, two Chinese pistols, one .315 sniper rifle, one country-made pistol, two 12 bore rifles along with two magazines of AK-47, three magazines of Chinese pistol and several other logistic stores were recovered," said Col Mehta.
He said that the recovery of the cache would result in defeating the nefarious designs of the militants of derailing the peace and stability of the region especially in view of the ongoing assembly elections in J&K.
