Quack arrested near Madurai

MADURAI: Police arrested on Tuesday a woman who was practising medicine illegally in the Melur area of Madurai district.
The quack has been identified as Kanagambal, 51, of Thiruvathavur near Melur.
Police said Kanagambal had been working as an assistant to a doctor at Thirupuvanam for ten years. Then she started treating patients with the experience she had gained while working with the doctor.
She opened a clinic in Thiruvathur village and was treating patients.
Recently the Melur police received complaints that Kanagambal did not have any medical degrees.
The police conducted inquiries with Kanagambal. As she could not produce any relevant certificates, they arrested her.
