Renault is gearing up to launch the Lodgy MPV early next year. Here are spy pics of a camouflaged Lodgy testing near Chennai. The screen grabs are part of a video shot by YouTube user Swagat Tushar. Going by the wrapped Lodgy test mule here, not much can be made of any possible updates in its design to make the Lodgy look more upmarket than its European version. What we can see though is a new set of five spoke alloy wheels. Considering the headlamps are heavily covered, they could be housing a new design in the headlamp cluster.
The grille, bumper and fog lamps are the same as is the rear end of the MPV. The Lodgy is a full size MPV, much bigger than the likes of the Mobilio, Ertiga and Enjoy. The car measures 4.5m in length and 1.75m in width and has short overhangs. That translates to excellent interior space.
Reports suggest that the Lodgy will only be available in the 85PS version of the 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine that powers most cars in the Renault range. The 110PS tune state is only used in the Duster and Fluence at present, and considering the Lodgy’s positioning a notch below the Duster, the 85PS unit is logically the right choice.
