islamabad - The opening ceremony of the 10th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET-2014) was held here at the National University of Computer & Emerging Sciences (FAST-NU) on Monday.
National hero and renowned nuclear scientist Dr Samar Mubarakmand was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr Mubarakmand, in his address, praised the quality of research being conducted at FAST-NU. In his inspirational address he strongly motivated the research community in Pakistan to attempt challenging problems that are essential for the economic stability and defence of the country. He advised the young researchers to concentrate their research to solve the existing problems of the nation.
This was followed by the keynote speech on the topic of research quality by Dr Shoaib Khan. He also highlighted some of the research being carried out at the university.
The Rector of the university Dr Amir Muhammad stressed on the fact that research should be carried out in areas related with the socio-economic growth of the country.
The ICET-2014 is a two-day conference in which more than 31 distinguished speakers from within the country and abroad are presenting their research work. The closing ceremony of the conference will be held on Tuesday (today).
