Rash driving: Miraculous escape for salesman, one held

Ulhasnagar: A 27-year-old salesman with a private cellular company escaped death by hardly a few inches after his bike was was hit by a truck on Sunday, around 1.45pm.

Sanjay Dattatray Shinde was heading towards Kalyan from Mahral village road on a bike with his relative, Naresh Pashkanti, 30. A truck which was behind the victim's two-wheeler hit him, which resulted in the bike skidding near Century school in Ulhasnagar.

Shinde suffered severe scratches on his back and stomach, while his relative, who was riding pillion, also received minor injuries. The truck driver has been arrested. A case has been registered with Ulhasnagar police under section 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338

(causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act, 184. An official from Ulhasnagar police station said, "The accused was produced in court. The victims are out of danger."
