3 beaten up for harassing schoolgirls

GHAZIABAD: Three men in their twenties were beaten up on Monday morning in Siddharth Vihar for allegedly harassing schoolgirls. One of the accused, Babloo (25), was handed over to the police, while two others managed to flee. Police have arrested Babloo after conducting a medical check-up upon him.
They lodged an FIR against Babloo under sections of the IPC, pertaining to outraging the modesty of a woman (354), sexual harassment (354A), intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace (504) and criminal intimidation (506).Besides, relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 have also been invoked against the accused.
Police said they passed lewd comments about girls on their way to school. One of the girls who was harassed regularly was a minor. Parents and relatives of the girl decided to gather near the spot on Monday morning to catch the miscreants.
"The girl had complained of routine harassment by the youth. We, however, were handed over only one person," said a cop.
The accused and the minor girl are both residents of Sector 11 in Pratap Vihar, Ghaziabad.
"The people who caught Babloo were mostly relatives of the girl. He has been sent to judicial custody after arrest," said Avdesh Yadav, SHO, Vijay Nagar.
