Tamil Nadu schoolgirl commits suicide after teacher scolds her

MADURAI: A Class 8 girl student allegedly committed suicide near her school in the Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu on Monday after her teacher had scolded her for scoring low marks in examinations.
Annapazham (12), daughter of Periyasamy of Anthonypuram, had been a studious girl, but she had scored less in the recent examinations.
The teacher had asked her to bring her parents to school.On Friday, her mother, Anthonyammal, accompanied her to school. The teacher scolded her in front of the mother.
On Monday, when the girl did not turn up in school, her parents were informed. A search was launched. Later, her charred body was found at an under construction building near the school.
The Pudukottai police registered a case and were investigating.
