Crowd funding boot camp begins in Ahmedabad
AHMEDABAD: Few months ago, Gujarat Technological University (GTU) students Karana Pujara and Kinjal Chaudhari had put up their projects for crowd funding on Start51 website for the initial capital. Taking a cue from the boot camp by crowd funding initiator, they marketed their projects on the website and got much more than the funds they had pitched in for.
After the success of the first-ever Crowd Funding Initiator (CFI) - a boot camp to help young innovators and entrepreneurs crowd fund ready - is launching their second edition of the programme in Ahmedabad on Monday.

The initiative is supported by Gujarat Technological University and Start51, an indigenous crowd funding platform. Crowd funding is simply the practice of funding a project or venture by raising many small amounts of money from a large number of people.
At present, 45 teams have pitched their ideas to be selected for CFI 2.0.
On CFI 1.0 success, Dr Akshai Aggarwal, vice-chancellor of GTU, said, “This is the first of its kind of initiative where university-level efforts are being made in crowd funding space involving wide range of experts. During CFI 1, two projects raised more than 150% of the aimed money.”
Ateet Bajaj, co- initiator of CFI and founder of Start51, said, “CFI helps in raising funds as well as a way to validate their idea in the market. Also, they learn tools and techniques which will help them in professional advancement."
“University like GTU with more than 20,000 student projects every year can greatly help its best 200 projects get funded through crowd funding,” said Kumar Manish, co-initiator of CFI.
