Police seize drugs, cash in South Brisbane 'drug cafe' raids

Police have revealed the huge haul of drugs and cash seized during an investigation into a chapter of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club, which allegedly used a South Brisbane cafe as a distribution hub.

The Roastery Cafe and its warehouse on Glenelg Street, along with properties in Logan, Gold Coast and Cairns, were raided during October as part of Operation Juliet Wave.

As a result 62 people were charged with drug offences.

Crime and Corruption Commission said they had seized $831,433 worth of cash and assets after the initial raids in the Supreme Court, $313,000 of which was cash.

Property seized including vehicles, mobile phones, computers, air rifle, butterfly knife, knuckledusters, nunchukkas and other weapons, the CCC said.

Police said $2.9 million of drugs were also seized during the two-year operation, including crystal and liquid methamphetamines with an estimated value of more than $2 million.

Steroids, cannabis, cocaine, GHB precursor, heroin, LSD tablets and ecstasy were also seized.

A rare ATM which can complete transactions in digital currencies Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin was also taken away for examination.

Anti-bikie investigators from Taskforce Maxima allege Roastery cafe co-owner Brent Carrall and Bandido member Senad Catic were the ringleaders of the syndicate.

Mr Carrall is out on bail and Mr Catic remains in custody ahead of future court dates.

The CCC currently has two applications in the Queensland Supreme Court to seize property, and expects to make further seizures.

One of the properties they are trying to seize is co-owned by Australian soccer player Dario Vidosic, News Corp reported. There was no suggestion Mr Vidosic had engaged in any improper behaviour.
