The Nagpada police recently arrested a 30-year-old ward boy of a Nagpada-based hospital for allegedly molesting a caretaker. The accused had touched the victim inappropriately while she was resting in one of the wards in the hospital.

According to the police, 32-year-old victim is a resident of Byculla and works in the hospital at Arab Lane. On September 10, after completing her work at 3pm, she went into one of the wards on the first floor to rest.

"Around 6.15pm, she felt that some was touching her inappropriately. On waking up, she saw the accused. The accused then fled from the ward and went to the casualty room. The victim then confronted the man and an argument ensued. Some other staff members witnessed this argument between the two," said an officer from Nagpada police station.

He added that since victim's daughter was unwell she rushed back to her home. The next day, she lodged a complaint against the ward boy with the police. "On Saturday, the accused was picked up from the gate of the hospital. He admitted to having committed the offence. We have also recorded the statement of a witness in the case. The accused was booked under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code for assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty. He was later granted bail by the court," the officer said.
