Two die as taxi rams into truck

A woman and a girl were killed on the spot while six others injured when a taxi they were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck at Nandgaonpeth toll post on Sunday morning.

Amravati: A woman and a girl were killed on the spot while six others injured when a taxi they were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck at Nandgaonpeth toll post on Sunday morning.
Nandgaon police identified the deceased as Nita Ramesh Thakare (35), a resident of Pawade Plot, Gadge Nagar, Amravati, and Samiksha Wasudeo Sable (19), a resident of village Nimbhi in Morshi tehsil.
They were going to Morshi to attend a marriage. The injured included Mayuri Bawaskar, Trupti Bhalerao, Vaishnavi Bhalerao, Ketki Bhalerao, Pramod Bhele and Sagar Thakare. Some of the injured have been admitted to district general hospital while others to private hospitals.
Police said the passengers were travelling in a kali-pili taxi from Gadgenagar to Morshi. Around 10.30am the taxi rammed into a stationary truck at Nandgaonpeth post.
Nandgaon police have arrested the taxi driver identified as Sanjay. The taxi is owned by one Ashok Rewatkar, said police.
