The Los Angeles Film Critics Association is meeting to vote its annual awards Sunday morning (Dec. 7). In this century, most LAFCA best picture winners have gone on to be Oscar contenders, and all best director winners have done so.
Jonny Greenwood Says Radiohead ‘Fumbling’ Around to Create New Album
Last year, for the first time, the group surprisingly awarded three ties: best picture (Gravity and Her), best actress (Blue Is the Warmest Color‘s Adele Exarchopoulos and Blue Jasmine‘s Cate Blanchett) and best supporting actor (James Franco and Dallas Buyers Club‘s Jared Leto).
LAFCA previously announced that it will honor actress Gena Rowlands (whose new film Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks is releaesed Dec. 12) and former LAFCA president Leonard Maltin (who published the first edition of his Movie Guide book at age 18 and the final edition in September) at LAFCA’s awards dinner on Jan. 10 at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City.

Best music score (tie): Jonny Greenwood (Inherent Vice) and Mica Levi (Under the Skin).
Best production design: Adam Stockhausen, The Grand Budapest Hotel. Runner-up: Ondrej Nekvasil, Snowpiercer.
Best supporting actor: J.K. Simmons, Whiplash. Runner-up: Edward Norton, Birdman.
Best editing: Sandra Adair, Boyhood. Runner-up: Barney Pilling, The Grand Budapest Hotel.
