Taking a step towards transparency and informing the residents of developments in her constituency, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Manda Mhatre on Saturday listed out works she had completed in the last one month. Among other crucial works, the issue of floor space index (FSI) for dilapidated Cidco buildings tops the list.

"In just one month, we have been able to streamline a host of works which had been pending for the last few years. I had a meeting with Cidco managing director and he is positive of starting the process for most of the works in the month of January," said Mhatre during a media briefing on Saturday.

She added, "If you have the will, you can get the works done. Cidco MD Sanjay Bhatia has assured cooperation to solve problems faced by salt pan workers, giving additional FSI to police personnel for construction of their colonies and construction of recreational centres for senior citizens in Navi Mumbai in every node. Besides, we have also demanded that the planning agency should also construct community centres for women self-help groups in the satellite city."

Mhatre added, "We also need grounds to promote sports such as wrestling, kho-kho and kabaddi, cricket and Cidco has assured us help on this front too. Additionally, we have asked the planning authority to construct library where students can study as the present places are too small and congested due to rise in the population."

The Belapur MLA, said, "Cidco should provide plots for community centres of minority community. Also, the proposal for water transport from Nerul to Mandwa has got a green signal."

At the plot where once Glass House stood in sector 15 of Belapur, Mhatre said, "Maritime board will be constructing a jetty and there are plans to start yoga centre and a garden will be developed by Cidco."

GR on FSI will come in January

Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre said, "The state government and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis are positive on additional FSI for Navi Mumbai and a GR giving FSI of 3 for Navi Mumbai will come out in January. We have informed the CM that FSI of 3 should be given so that residents get bigger homes."

"Our main aim is to pass on the benefits of extra FSI to people and not to any developer who are reportedly close to 'anyone'. Secondly, in the remaining FSI provision should be made to provide homes to economically weaker sections and lower income group people," she added.

Mhatre said, "The CM has also agreed to regularise homes of project-affected persons constructed out of need by giving them additional FSI. A formal decision will be taken soon."
