Nagpur records season’s lowest temp at 10.2 degrees celsius
NAGPUR: Mercury dipped to the season’s lowest of 10.2 degrees celsius in the city in wee hours of Saturday. However, the temperature is set to rise next week as per the forecast by the meteorological department.
The minimum temperature was three degrees lower than normal at 10.2 degrees celsius in the wee hours. Before this, the lowest minimum temperature for the season was 11.1 degrees celsius recorded on November 19.
After that, the minimum temperature had risen to remain closer to 13 degrees celsius the rest of the month. In the past few days, however, the minimum temperature has been falling gradually.
“The minimum temperature will rise in the next week. Temperatures would remain low during the weekend, hovering in the range of 10 and 31 degrees celsius with mainly clear skies. After Monday, there will be a gradual rise in the temperature with the minimum temperature reaching 15-16 degrees by Thursday. The skies would also start clouding up after that,” said an official from the regional met department. The cloud cover could also cause sporadic showers in parts of the region, he added.
This would happen because of moisture-laden winds blowing towards Central India. As a result, maximum temperature would be a couple of degrees above normal while minimum temperature would be slightly below normal. This trend has been seen since the beginning of the month with a huge gap between the minimum and maximum temperature of the days.
Nagpur was among the coldest places of Vidarbha on Saturday. The lowest minimum temperature of the region was Gondia’s 100 Celsius, closely followed by 10.20 Celsius experienced at both Ambikapur in neighbouring Chhattisgarh and Nagpur.
