India’s Aryan Goveas stunned top-seed Jay Clarke (Great Britain) 7-6(6), 6-3 in boys’ singles final at the Gadre-MSLTA ITF junior tennis championships here on Saturday. The girls’ final was won by Thailand’s Plobrung Plipuech when she defeated top-seed Tamachan Momkoonthod (Thailand) 7-5, 6-4.
Goveas grabbed the first set in the tie-breaker, and then gained a break in the second game in the second set to force a win in 105 minutes.
Plipuech wrested initiative with breaks in the 12th and ninth games in the first and second sets respectively to win in 107 minutes.
