Gujarat Ranji team oozing confidence

AHMEDABAD: Yes, last year's tough loss to Mumbai in their last Ranji Trophy league match in Valsad still lingers in Gujarat's players' mind. But its Ranji coach Hitesh Majmudar does not wants his players to forget that loss and wants them to take inspiration from it. From Sunday, when Gujarat kick off their Ranji campaign against Rajasthan in Jaipur, there are all the reasons why they are oozing with confidence.
Parthiv Patel-led Gujarat looks to have sorted out their batting woes as they have a formidable opening combination comprising Samit Gohel and Priyank Panchal, followed by Bhargav Merai, Parthiv, Venugopal Rao and Rujul Bhatt. Overall, it's a very strong line-up.
Of course, Gujarat does have a set back in the form of their pacer Jasprit Bumrah who is out due to injury. But still, they can put faith in comeback pacers Rush Kalaria and Ishwar Chaudhary.
Rush playing in Deodhar trophy says a lot about his performance. Also, they have a deadly spin attack after they got onboard former India player Ramesh Powar. Axar Patel, who is performing well at international level, will be available for the four-day games until he gets a national call, which is a boast for Gujarat.
