The last time singer Akon performed in Kenya, there were rumours that he had signed a young talented rapper into his record label, Konvict Music.

There has been an uproar in the music circles with questions on why Akon or his label abandoned the boy after he left country.

Keen on putting the matter to rest, Akon has confirmed that he has never signed any Kenyan into his label. “I have signed so many people in my record label, but none of them is Kenyan,” he said during a Google Hang Out interview with Showbuzz.

“That must have been misreporting done by the media. However, I am very interested in signing at least an artiste from here,” he said. Some of the African artistes he has in his label include Nigeria’s Wizkid and P’Square, he said.
