VARANASI: Facing criticism after the killing of six school kids at an unmanned railway crossing in Mau the minister of state for railway Manoj Singh said that railway is targeting to end the problem of unmanned railway crossing within two years.
During brief chat with reporters here on Saturday Sinha blamed the states for increasing unmanned railway crossing.
“New roads are being laid along railway tracks in the states due to which number of unmanned railway crossing are also increasing”, said the minister adding, the number of unmanned railway crossings has exceeded the figure of 11,000.
To make these crossings manned, he said, a huge budget is required and the railway minister Suresh Prabhu is working in the direction of managing funds to eliminate the problem of unmanned crossing. Despite all these efforts minimum two years would be needed to solve the problem, added the minister. He made it clear that inviting investments from private sector and foreign should not be considered as the railway is being privatized.
