JUI-F warns of launching countrywide protest

KARACHI - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Sindh Naib Ameer Qari Usman has held the Sindh government responsible for the assassination of party leader Dr Khalid Mehmood Somroo.
He warned the government of launching countrywide protest in case of non-arrest of the killers. He was addressing a protest demonstration at Numaish Chowrangi against the killing of JUI-F leader Dr Khalid Soomro in Sukkur and the attack on Fazlur Rehman in Quetta.
A larger number of party activists and supporters carrying party flags reached the spot from all over the city and staged sit-in against the killing of party leader. They chanted slogans against the provincial government and demanded immediate arrest of the killers.
JUI-F Punjab Ameer Dr Attiqur Rehman, ASWJ leader Dr Fayyaz, Maulana Abdul Kareem, Maulana Ghayas, Engineer Abdul Razaq, Maulana Umer Sadiq, Maulana Syed Hammad Ullah Shah, Qazi Fakhul Hassan, Mufti Abdul Haq Usmani, Maulana Ehsan Ullah, Maulana Abdul Rasheed Nomani, Akber Ali Shah and others spoke on the occasion.
Criticising Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Qari Usman said the Sindh CM should remember that he was not going to remain on the slot forever. Qaim has failed to maintain the law and order situation of the province.
How a chief minister who is always snoozing can make effort for restoration of peace in the province, he questioned. He said the party workers would not tolerate further ignorance of the government in this regard.
If government further delayed the arrest of the killers, it would force the party to stage countrywide protest drive, he added.
Terming Larkana a city of martyrs, he further said earlier the city had witnessed the martyrdom of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. Unfortunately, once again the city has been gifted with the dead body of Dr Khalid Somroo, he added.
Addressing the protestors, JUI-F Punjab Ameer Dr Attiq said killing of Dr Khalid and attack on the party chief Fazlur Rehman had forced the party to stage protest which would continue till the arrest of the killers. He said Qaim had failed to take rapid action over the incident. Maulana Abdul Kareem said Dr Khalid sacrificed his life for the party mission and never made any adjustment with the enemies of the religion. He vowed that party leadership will continue his mission. “We will send government home if they did not take immediate steps for the arrest of the killers,” said Maulana Ghayas. “We always direct our workers to stay calm for the sake of peace in the Sindh.”
On the other hand, law enforcers maintained strict security for the protestors. The entry and exit points of Numaish Chowrangi were seized. The blockage of the main artery caused massive traffic jam at MA Jinnah Road and its surrounding areas. However, the traffic police allocated alternate routes for the flow of traffic.
