Builder murder: four held, main accused absconding

The Palghar police have claimed to arrest the assailants of the Nalasopara builder who was shot dead from point blank range a month ago outside his office. The perpetrators had fled on the bike after shooting the builder. The reason behind the murder remians unknown as the main accused is absconding and the mystery behind the murder continues.

Rajesh Singh, 35, was standing outside his office, Khusboo Traders at Deep Residency in Sainath Nagar of Nalasopara (E), when two accused, Dhiraj Upadhyay, 26, a Borivli resident and Amir Khan, 22, a resident of Naigaon, arrived on the motorcycle. Dhiraj pulled out the revolver and fired at Singh leading to his death. While Mahesh Shetty, 37 and Santosh Shetty, 29, were their accomplice.

"As per the information, we arrested Amir as he confessed to the crime however, the reason of murder is remains unknown and the main accused is absconding. We have seized the revolver and the bike used in the crime," said a police official.

He added, "We have arrested them under sections 302 (murder), 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code and under relevant sections of Arms Act. We are investigating further," said the official.
