Finding cops absent, woman locks up outpost
A woman complainant caused anxious moments for policeman by locking up Civil Lines police outpost in Unnao after finding no one on duty there on Thursday evening. She was detained at night. Vinita Yadav, a resident of Lok Nagar, had gone to lodge a complaint against her siblings. When she found no cop on duty, the woman locked the outpost from outside. She was released on Friday with a warning by Kotwali police.
The woman alleged that she was severely beaten up by police during her detention. Yadav had gone to file a complaint at the outpost after a quarrel with her siblings on Thursday. She said that a woman constable had severely beaten her at Kotwali police station. "My neighbours came to save me but the police misbehaved with them. I went to the outpost to lodge a case against my brothers," she said. "We have conducted a medical examination and released her. Her family members described her to be reeling under depression. No action has been taken against the constables so far," a police officer said.
