Take the healthy route

Lumiere, a restaurant located in Marathahalli, was started by Manjunath PR after he realised that many people in that part of the City  wanted a place to hop in for a quick lunch or dinner. The eatery uses only organic products. The place offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare.

“We have our own free-range poultry, which makes our chicken dishes totally hormone/antibiotic free, so that’s a speciality for non-vegetarians,” explains Manjunath.
One of the hot favourites of the customers is the ‘paneer’-based items. There are many takers for North-Indian, Kerala and Chettinad fare. “We are not strict about these streams but our recipes are broadly based on these styles,” says Manjunath. For starters, there’s ‘paneer-capsicum pepper fry’ which is popular and ‘paneer/chicken butter masala’.

For those who love sea food, there’s ‘squid masala’ and ‘shrimp-coconut stir fry’ that are fast moving. “Our seafood is procured directly from the fishermen, cleaned and ‘iced’ immediately. So, there’s no need to use any chemicals to preserve the fish. Our dinner menu has one item that has remained a hot favourite and continues to grow in demand — ‘Lumiere Sizzler,” says Manjunath.  

The restaurant will soon have an ‘Organic Thali’. “The ‘thali’ will have balanced and nutritious content. We introduced this because we want to promote healthy food habits. Unless, there is more demand for organic food, it is difficult to keep the supply-demand cycle going,” he explains.

The place is hygienic and no food items are carried over to the next day. “Since we have our own organic farm for the vegetables and poultry, we use fresh stock on a daily basis,” says Manjunath.
