UPM don takes over as ASAIHL head

    PETALING JAYA: Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) vice-chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd. Fauzi Ramlan was today appointed president of the Board of Trustees of the The Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) effective from January 2015 during its meeting at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore today, a statement from UPM said.
    Mohd. Fauzi, whose term will end in December 2016, replaces Prof. Dr. Idrus A. Paturusi from Indonesia.
    "This appointment will spur me to give my fullest commitment to take ASAIHL to the next level in an effort to improve the quality of education in Asean," Mohd. Fauzi said.
    He added that the appointment is more meaningful as Malaysia will take over as Asean chairman next year.
