Rada approves heads of parliamentary committees
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has approved the leadership of all parliamentary committees, except for three - the Regulations Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, the Finance and Banking Committee, as well as the Committee on Construction, Urban Development, Housing and Utilities.
A total of 249 MPs voted for this resolution. In particular, this decision was backed by 117 members of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, 74 members of the People's Front, 21 members of the Samopomich Union, ten members of the Batkivschyna faction, 15 members of the People's Will group, and twelve independents. Members of the Opposition Bloc, Oleh Liashko's Radical Party and the Economic Development group didn't vote for this decision.
The Budget Committee will be chaired by a member of the Poroshenko Bloc, Andriy Pavelko. Representatives of the Poroshenko Bloc will also head the Agrarian Policy and Land Relations Committee - Taras Kutovy, the Committee on Environmental Policy, Natural Resources and Chornobyl Aftermath Mitigation - Mykola Tomenko, and the European Integration Committee - Iryna Heraschenko.
In addition, members of the Poroshenko Bloc faction will lead the Health Committee – Olha Bohomolets, the Legal Policy and Justice Committee - Ruslan Kniazevych, the Family, Youth and Sports Committee – Artur Palatny, the Transport Committee – Yaroslav Dubnevych, the Taxation and Customs Policy Committee - Roman Nasyrov, the Committee for Veterans and People with Disabilities – Oleksandr Tretiakov.
The Samopomich Union representatives will head three committees. Yehor Sobolev will lead the Committee on the Fight against Organized Crime and Corruption, Hanna Hopko the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Oleksandr Danchenko the Committee on Information and Communication.
The Batkivschyna Faction MPs will also head three committees. The State Development and Local Self-Government Committee will be headed by Serhiy Vlasenko, the Committees on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement by Andriy Kozhemiakin, and the Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and International Relations Hryhoriy Nemyria.
The People's Front representatives will head the Committee on Economic Policy (Andriy Ivanchuk), the Committee on Culture and Spirituality (Mykola Kniazhytsky), the Committee on Science and Education (Lilia Hrynevych), the Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Security (Mykola Martynenko), the Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy (Viktoria Siumar), the Committee on Social Policy, Employment and Pensions (Liudmyla Denisova), the Committee on National Security and Defense (Serhiy Pashynsky).
The Committee on Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship will be headed by a representative of Oleh Liashko's Radical Party faction, Viktor Halasiuk.
