JAMMU, Dec 4: International Acting workshop organised by Natrang and conducted by London actor Conor Whelan concluded here today at Natrang Studio Theatre.
Describing about this initiative, Natrang Director, Balwant Thakur informed that the motive behind the workshop was to introduce the most developed methodologies of actor’s training to Natrang actors.
Conor Whelan is a young performer, story teller, poet, clown, actor and playwright who came all way from London to conduct the workshop with Natrang actors. First coming on board with Rambling Heart for the Three Week Window festival, Conor since been swept to London and continued his training at London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA). Alongside his work for Rambling Heart, he is also a freelance theatre-maker, workshop facilitator for Tall Tales, Tiny Tales and a children’s entertainer for Nutty’s Parties.
After early performances such as a seagull, he went on to study Literature and Theatre at Leeds University. Two of his plays were produced there, another at West Yorkshire Playhouse through Peepolykus’ The Ionian Enchantment. Acting took him to Edinburgh Fringe in Splinters of Light (4* Scotsman, Three Weeks).
In Natrang Conor Whelan introduced many new devices of Actor’s self exploration of body and voice exercises. He particularly stressed on study of an animal. He further instructed to be very specific in your observation of the animal. What is the animal’s posture? How does he move? When does he move? Why does he move?
Prominent among those who participated the workshop included Anil Tickoo, Neeraj Kant, Subash Jamwal, Asheish Nijhawan, Sumeet Sharma, Abhishek Bharti, Mohd Yaseen, Aarushi Thakur, Vanshika Gupta, Niharika Sakshi, Lalit Sharma, Aaditya Bharti, Mahikshit Singh, Rajan Thakyal, Ankush Lakhnotra, Masood Qadir, Chander Pratap Singh, Gopi Sharma, Sachin Bamba, Amit Raina and Pankaj Verma.
