Fake job racket busted in Indirapuram, kingpin arrested

GHAZIABAD: A man who police said was a national secretary of Rashtriya Kranti Party was arrested in Indirapuram on Thursday for allegedly leading a racket that cheated people on the pretext of a railways job.
According to police, 30-year-old Gyanesh Chauhan had cheated several people in the last few years. Police had received complaints against him from Ghaziabad and Moradabad.
Mahendra Singh, a 28-year-old resident of Moradabad, told TOI that he had to sell his ancestral farmland to pay a bribe amount of Rs 7 lakh to Chauhan, for a government job. An FIR under sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), has been registered. "A person called Sashi Bhushan Sharma contacted me two years ago and offered me a job in the Railways, in exchange of Rs 8.5 lakh.
They promised me a job in the Varanasi division of Railways and took Rs 7 lakh to give me a joining letter. When I contacted railway officials in Varanasi two months later, they said the letter was forged. I met him in Indirapuram yesterday and handed him over to police. That's when he disclosed his association with Chauhan," Singh said.
Another complainant in the case, Sanjay Singh, a resident of Ghaziabad was not available for comments.
"Chauhan was arrested from his Indirapuram residence on Thursday. Further investigations into the matter are underway," said a police official.
