Eight associates of Vicky Shetty arrested

The City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested eight associates of fugitive Vicky Shetty near Tannir Bavi on Thursday.

MANGALURU: The City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested eight associates of fugitive Vicky Shetty near Tannir Bavi on Thursday.
The arrested are: Manoj Kumar, 37, resident of Surathkal, Raghavendra alias Raghu, 30, resident of Vamanjoor, Santosh Poojary alias Porlu Santhu, 33, resident of Bajal, Bharatesh, 30, resident of Jappinamogaru, Naveen alias Miachel, 26, resident of Baikamady, Sandesh Karkera, 29 of Guddekoppala, Surathkal, Chethan alias Annu, 27, resident of Surathkala and Varnit Shetty, 30 from Hosabettu.’
CCB police said that the arrest was based on a tip off that the accused werer hatching a plot to eliminate Bharatesh of Bokkapatna, who is one of the accused in the murder of Bejai Raja.

The police have seized four talwars, three knives, one sickle, Rs 15,590, seven mobiles from them. Among the accused Naveen is accused in two murder cases – Simon Machado of Surathkal and Sandeep in Panambur police station limits. Sandesh and Chethan are accused in the murder of Sandeep and Raghavendra in twin murders of rowdy Murugesh and his brother in law Upendra. The last two accused Santosh Poojary and Bharatesh are accused in assault and communal incidents in Mangalore Rural Police station limits.
The arrest was made by CCB Police Inspector Valentine D’Souza, under the supervision f Police Commissioner R Hithendra and DCP (law and order) Jagadeesh and Crime Branch DCP Vishnuvardhana.
