Firing on Junagadh BJP councillor’s residence
RAJKOT: Unidentified assailants allegedly fired two rounds on BJP councillor Ebha Katara’s residence in Junagadh on Tuesday night. However, no one was injured as the bullets hit the gate of the house.
Sources said that Ebha saw the bullet marks on the gate of his residence on Wednesday morning and informed the police. Police officials rushed to the site and collected two shells from the spot.
Forensic experts also carried out investigations at Ebha’s residence.
Ebha is a resident of Gopalwadi near Girnar Darwaja. He was elected from ward number 10 to Junagadh Municipal Corporation (JMC) during last year’s civic body elections.
He told the police that he suspects the role of Aswin Kathi in the firing. Ashvin is an accused in the murder of Ebha’s brother Karman Katara and is lodged in Junagadh jail. He was nabbed by the police in July this year.
Karman was deputy mayor of JMC and was shot dead at point blank range on February 1, 2010 at Bhavnath Taleti area in Junagadh.
Police suspect that Katara was killed by Ashwin and his gang as they believed that he was behind their arrests under anti narcotics law and arms act.
