NEW DELHI: In parched Sangam Vihar, which is considered to be Aam Aadmi Party's stronghold, BJP MP from south Delhi Ramesh Bidhuri on Wednesday promised water supply in the next 15 days. Hoping to make a dent in AAP's votebank, BJP members touched on local issues and work done by the Centre in the last six months.
"Within 15 days you will start getting water, but on alternate days.
We will soon get water from Haryana (referring to Munak canal issue)," said Bidhuri while addressing a jan sabha in K-block of Sangam Vihar.
He attacked AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal for not fulfilling his promises. "He (Kejriwal) promised 700 litres of water and reduction of electricity tariff by 50%. But soon after becoming CM, he said water would only be provided to houses with meters. He reduced power tariff only up to 200 units. He cheated you all," said Bidhuri, who was accompanied by MP from Maharajganj, Bihar, Janardhan Singh Sigriwal.
In his 20-minute speech, Bidhuri listed out promises made by AAP and how the party failed to deliver. "From water to regularization of contractual employees, he has cheated you. Instead of solving problems, he quit the government," he said.
Urging people to give a clear mandate to BJP, Bidhuri and Sigiriwal told them to keep in mind the work done by the Modi-led central government while voting in the assembly elections.

BJP members say it is important to expose Kejriwal as AAP has a strong influence in the area. This is why the party has decided to list out all his failures. Bidhuri even mocked at Kejriwal's anti-graft stand. "He joined politics to fight corruption. If he really wanted to do that, he should have stood against Lalu Prasad, Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav."
The constituency has a large number of unauthorized colonies and slums, a votebank which BJP has failed to tap. Some of the recent schemes like Jan Dhan Yojna are coming handy in wooing them.
Listing out Narendra Modi's achievements, Sigriwal said, "You have chosen a person (Modi) who has seen poverty closely. He understands the problems. Only such a person can take the whole country ahead."
