Doctors booked for abetment of suicide

Two doctors of a private rehabilitation hospital were booked for abetment of suicide of 15-year-old patient Kalyani Tawre who had jumped from the fourth floor of the hospital on November 20.

Nagpur: Two doctors of a private rehabilitation hospital were booked for abetment of suicide of 15-year-old patient Kalyani Tawre who had jumped from the fourth floor of the hospital on November 20.
Dhantoli police booked doctors Vikas Bhute and Preeti Bhute. The complaint was filed by the deceased’s father, Deepjyoti, a resident of Adhyapak Nagar, Manewada. Tawre alleged that his daughter Kalayani, a mentally challenged girl, who was undergoing treatment at their hospital, was not taken care of by the doctors.
As per Tawre’s allegations, despite knowing that his daughter was mentally challenged, the doctors did not deploy any attendant to look after her. Even, they didn’t keep the windows shut or even no grill was fit in the ward in which she was undergoing treatment. Tawre claimed that the doctors didn’t take care of the patient’s security and she jumped off from the hospital. Police are yet to arrest the doctors.
