Man accused of raping 8-yr-old neighbour arrested in Lonavala

A 20-year old man was arrested by the Chembur police in Lonavala on Tuesday for allegedly raping an eight-year old girl.

The accused, who has been on a run since Saturday, is wireman who lives near the girl in a slum colony in Chembur. On Saturday, the girl told her parents that she was in pain. When they found out about the incident, the parents approached the police and filed a complaint.

“The accused saw the girl alone and took her to his residence,” said Dnyanesh Deode, Senior Inspector, Chembur police station. She is then subjected to unnatural sex on Saturday afternoon.

Based on tip off the accused was arrested from Lonavala and brought to Mumbai. The Chembur police have registered a case under IPC sections 354 (assault with intent to outrage modesty), 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural sex) and relevant sections of the The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
